From Mark Graves:
The site is from a fans perspective - me as a fan I mean. I love
following the local boxing scene even more than the national one
so far. It has gotten too expensive for the PPV so I mainly focus
on KC.
The site started at the end of 2004 by myself and a friend.
My friend got the structure for the site and sent me on my way.
The reason we built the site was to have a place where fans could
go and find out about all the pro boxing matches in KC and the surround
areas. Before we launched the site, I had been taking notes about
fights and fighters so I could remember them the next time I saw them.
That is how the archives and boxers pages started.
At the time, I only knew about Battle Star fights and when I found out
there were more fights scheduled, I felt there needed to be a place
people could go to find out about them so we built the site.
Then I ended up getting a radio show originally called The K C Boxing
News Radio Show. It changed when I got Dave McKee as my partner on
the
air and it became Ringside Radio because Dave was writing for
ringsidereport.com at the time.
Once I started the radio show, I began to do my reviews on the air
instead of the round-by-round written format found on the archives
page. Just lazy to be honest.
I no longer have the weekly radio show about boxing but I am still
on KCXL.
In April of 2006, I took and passed the ABC Certification test for
boxing
judges. I am very happy about that and I may get to judge
fights someday.
